It’s possible to fill yourself with joyous spirit and feel like you’ve opened all your Christmas presents at once without spending a cent. Shopping mall Christmas displays are a great way to get your ‘roasted turkey’ juices flowing. IFC Mall in Central has already kicked off the Christmas cheer with an interactive, intergalactic ‘Christmas in Space’ exhibit rocketing children in to outer space. Also in YOHO MALL in Yuen Long introduced a series of Christmas ice and snow activities, you can enjoy more than 4,000 feet snow field true snow and ice challenge, and challenge the 3.5-meter-high ice slide.Likewise, Pacific Place at Admiralty, Elements in ICC, and Festival Walk in Kowloon (to name just a few) have transformed floor upon floor of space in to exciting Christmas themed displays, interactive exhibits, and amusements guaranteed to enthral and seduce the whole family with a healthy dose of Christmas cheer.
Walk the city streets at night and you will succumb to the fantastical Hong Kong Winterfest that continues to delight and ignite in true celebration of the city’s skyline as the ‘Symphony of Lights’ lights up the night sky. Buildings and monuments along Victoria Harbour will captivate and amaze the whole family with their decorative, Christmas themed lights, images, and greetings. There are various viewing vantage points from restaurants to office buildings, to parks and harbour sidewalks; and tailored boat cruises ensuring that you won’t miss a flash!
Come December, one of the brightest and most impressive sights in Central (apart from the night skyline) will be the enormous Christmas tree standing 18 metres high in Statue Square, Central. The magnificent tree is adorned with thousands of bright white glittering lights dazzling the heart of the city every day from 5pm onwards leading up to Christmas day and until the early hours of New Year’s Day. To top off this truly magical setting, Father Christmas will make scheduled appearances at Santa’s Lodge in the square at various times during December as will the Christmas choir will be performing up until Christmas eve.

For an alternative, yet traditional expression of a Christmas narrative, take the kids to the theatre. Based on the book by Raymond Briggs, ‘Father Christmas’ will be performing at the Hong Kong for Performing arts, Hong Kong Jockey Club Amphitheatre for two days only (1st – 2nd of December).
