Shuffle the cards and lay them face-down on the table. Take turns to turn over any two cards, one at a time - if the two cards are the same, you keep the pair - if they don't match, turn them back over, but concentrate and look carefully at the cards as they are turned over to try and remember where the pictures are for your next turn. The winner is the player with the most pairs. For younger players, why not try starting with a smaller amount of pairs to remember and match.
Each of the memory cards shows a bright, colourful photographic image which are easy to recognise to match, or why not try laying a number of cards out face up and making up a story using all the pictures you can see. Start with just a few but when you get really good at making up stories you can add more and more!
Playing memory games improves problem solving skills, develops counting, sorting and matching skills.
