Michael Morpurgo, a prolific children's author, has penned numerous books, five of which have been adapted into films. Beyond writing, he crafts his own screenplays and libretti for opera. Born in St Albans, Hertfordshire, in 1943, Morpurgo's wartime experiences and love for children inspired his dedication to education and storytelling. Together with his wife, he established 'Farms for City Children,' an initiative offering urban school children a unique rural experience. Awarded an MBE in 1999 for their service to youth, Morpurgo continues to impact young lives through his writing and philanthropy. A father and grandfather, his connection with children remains at the heart of his literary creations. Each year, the Morpurgo family finds inspiration on the Scilly Isles, the setting for three of his cherished books.
