We originally had a cheaper cotton netting type bouncer but for the amount of time our baby spends in this, this is way better and well worth the money spent. The netting one just did not hold her very well - she would slip out or end up in a position which look like circulation getting cut off. The newborn insert is really great because newborns are too small otherwise for most bouncers - much better posture and positioning. 4 months on and we were still using the insert because she looked like she was still benefiting from it! She can sit in this and bounce herself no complaints for over an hour at a time. We like that when she gets too big for the bouncer, it will still have use as a toddler chair. worth it.
